FOR EMPLOYEES • NO COMPANY SIGN-UP REQUIRED
FEEL BETTER. MOVE BETTER. GET BACK TO DOING MORE.
Complete care for neck, back, knee and shoulder problems — from understanding the cause to recovery.
Persistent pain can affect much more than exercise.
It can make it harder to sit through a working day, climb stairs, commute, sleep comfortably, carry your children or simply move without thinking about pain.
The Pain Relief Clinic brings together medical assessment, scans, physiotherapy, non-invasive treatment technologies and doctor-managed weight management in one coordinated approach.
NECK • BACK • KNEE • SHOULDER
For employees and their families.
MUSCULOSKELETAL HEALTH MATTERS AT WORK
Work-related musculoskeletal disorders accounted for 23% of reported occupational disease cases in Singapore in the first half of 2026.
Source: Singapore Ministry of Manpower, Workplace Safety & Health Report, 1H 2026.
But not everyone with pain takes MC.
Many people simply keep working.
They work with a stiff neck.
Sit through meetings with back pain.
Avoid stairs because of painful knees.
Struggle with a painful shoulder.
Stop exercising because movement hurts.
The result can be a cycle of pain → less movement → weakness or reduced fitness → more difficulty moving.
Our approach is designed to help employees understand the problem and find an appropriate way forward.
ONE PLACE TO START
You don’t need to decide which treatment you need.
Do I need physiotherapy?
Should I get a scan?
Would treatment technology help?
Is my weight contributing to my knee or back pain?
Should I exercise or rest?
Start with an assessment.
We can help determine the appropriate next steps based on your symptoms, examination and individual needs.
1. UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM
Medical Assessment & Diagnostic Imaging
Persistent pain can have many possible causes.
The first objective is to understand what may be happening rather than simply treating the symptom.
Where clinically appropriate, diagnostic imaging can be arranged.
MRI FROM S$980
MRI may provide detailed information about joints, discs, muscles, tendons, ligaments and other structures.
Common areas include:
–Neck
–Lower back
–Knee
-Shoulder
Other diagnostic imaging may also be considered depending on your condition.
You don’t need to decide whether you need an MRI yourself.
We can assess your condition first and discuss whether imaging is appropriate.
2. MOVE BETTER
Personalised Physiotherapy
Pain can change how you move.
And when movement decreases, strength, confidence and physical capacity can decline too.
Physiotherapy may be incorporated into your care to help address:
Painful or restricted movement
Muscle weakness
Reduced mobility
Difficulty returning to exercise
Reduced physical function
Recurring neck, back, knee or shoulder problems
Your programme may progress from symptom management through strengthening and functional rehabilitation according to your individual needs.
The goal isn’t simply to feel better for a day.
The goal is to help you move and function better again.
3. NON-INVASIVE TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY
More options than simply medication or rest.
Depending on your condition, treatment may incorporate non-invasive technologies alongside physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
Available treatment options may include technologies designed to support pain management, muscle activation, rehabilitation and recovery.
These may include:
SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
Used in selected musculoskeletal conditions as part of a broader rehabilitation programme.
TECAR / DEEP-HEATING THERAPY
Technology-assisted treatment that may be incorporated into selected rehabilitation programmes.
SPINAL DECOMPRESSION / TRACTION
May be considered for selected neck or back conditions following assessment.
AUTOMATED MUSCLE STIMULATION
Technology-assisted muscle activation and strengthening may be incorporated where appropriate.
Technology isn’t used simply because it’s available.
Treatment is selected according to your individual condition and rehabilitation goals.
4. WHEN PAIN AND WEIGHT BECOME A CYCLE
“I need to exercise to lose weight — but exercising hurts.”
This is a common problem.
Painful knees, hips or backs can make exercise difficult.
But reduced activity can make weight management, muscle conditioning and returning to exercise even harder.
For appropriate patients, The Pain Relief Clinic can combine musculoskeletal care with doctor-managed medical weight management.
This may include:
Medical assessment
Doctor-managed weight-management options
Lifestyle guidance
Physiotherapy
Muscle strengthening and conditioning
Support for gradually returning to physical activity
The objective isn’t simply a smaller number on the weighing scale.
It’s helping make movement easier and building a healthier, more active life.
5. BUILD BACK STRENGTH & FUNCTION
From pain relief to recovery.
Reducing pain can be the beginning rather than the end of treatment.
Depending on your needs, your care can progress through:

What To Expect When I Visit The Pain Relief Clinic
A typical visit will involve our doctor first understanding your medical history, concerns and previous experience with other pain treatments.
For patients who have consulted many people but have yet to receive a clear diagnosis, selecting an affordable imaging scan might be recommended to confirm the cause of your pain..
Some patients have already done scans with other doctors for their pain condition but are still not clearly told what they suffer from.
Dr Terence Tan is happy to offer you a second opinion and recommend how best to manage your condition.
We also see patients who already have a confirmed diagnosis from specialist pain doctors, but are "stuck” because treatment options offered are not practical or acceptable.
We can help by discussing options that you might have potentially never been told of.
A common experience is when a patient has already consulted a specialist doctor for pain management and is told to consider orthopaedic surgery which they find too aggressive.
Or they may have seen doctors for their pain and were prescribed painkillers with potential side effects which made them feel uncomfortable.
Many of our patients have also first tried complementary treatments or acupuncture with traditional Chinese pain doctors.
They look for a second opinion after finding any relief experienced from other treatments to be temporary or requiring repetitive treatments, which add up to time and cost.
Especially in such situations, we emphasize using non-invasive medical technology you likely have not been told about .
This can make a big difference to your results.
