Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of patients will benefit from our treatments?

Patients with both short term as well as long term pain conditions, especially those who have unsuccessfully tried other treatments, will benefit from the treatments.

How is the Pain Relief Clinic different from other GP clinics, Specialist clinics, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and other Alternative treatments?

Most GP clinics often focus mostly on education and medications. Specialist clinics often focus on more invasive procedures and surgery which may not be appropriate for some patients. Physiotherapists focus mostly on exercises, massage, rehabilitation, and heat treatments. Chiropractors and osteopaths tend to do manipulations of the spine.

At The Pain Relief Clinic, our doctor will first go through your medical history, conduct an examination, and where appropriate, order some investigations, before recommending a treatment based on your condition.

Treatments may include medications, supplements, injections and strengthening exercises but most effective are the Cold Laser and Computerized Electromagnetic (EM) Signal treatments.

Are the Treatments Painful, Dangerous or Risky?

The treatments are extremely safe and do not involve any operations or risky procedures. They generally involve applying a painless low energy laser or electromagnetic field to the painful body part for about 15-30 minutes. Depending of the treatment, this may involve resting the affected body part in a computerized electromagnetic field or directly applying the laser energy onto the affected area. Only a mild pleasant tingling or warm sensation is felt during the treatment.

How effective are the treatments and how many treatments are required?

This depends on the patient and the condition treated. In general, for acute, short term conditions, patients can expect very good relief within 1 or 2 treatments. For patients with long term, severe pain, who have unsuccessfully tried other treatments, most will still experience some improvement in 1 or 2 sessions, but some may need more sessions for more effective relief.

How long does the pain relief last?

Again, this depends on the patient and condition. For short term, acute injuries, pain relief is usually permanent. For people with long term conditions and already suffering pain for a long time, the goal is for pain relief lasting a few months or more.

Should I prepare anything for the consultations or treatments?

It would be good, though not essential, to bring any old medical investigations, reports, doctor’s referral letters and memos. Otherwise, just come in whatever normal attire you’re comfortable in.

Can I work after a treatment session?

Yes. There is no “Down Time” and patients feel perfectly normal and often much better immediately after treatments.

Are The Treatments Expensive?

The exact treatment cost depends on the specific condition and number of sessions needed.

However, our patients will typically find the treatments to be more cost effective than paying for long term medications, surgery, and other treatments (and without the potential risks and side effects).
